President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier will pay a state visit to the Republic of Indonesia from 15 to 17 June.

President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier will pay a state visit to the Republic of Indonesia from 15 to 17 June. This year, Indonesia holds Presidency of the G20, a forum of the 20 largest economies in the world. At the same time, Germany and Indonesia are commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations in 2022.

In the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, President Steinmeier will be welcomed by President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace for political talks. The German president will also join a meeting with experts on various topics covering Indonesia's work in the fields of environment, climate and energy. During his visit to German School Jakarta, he will talk with students from a number of schools that are members of the PASCH initiative (“Schools: Partners for the Future”) as well as the Indonesian and German business communities at the Center for Industry 4.0 Indonesia (PIDI 4.0). President Steinmeier will also visit the Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony.

In Yogyakarta, the President will explore Indonesia's cultural heritage. President Steinmeier will start a visit to the Borobudur Temple Compound in Magelang, Central Java, to be acquainted with its restoration process which has received support from Germany. The President will also interact with Gadjah Mada University academia and the modern art scene in Indonesia through the introduction of the collective art project “Monumen Antroposen” at the Jogja National Museum. In addition, he will meet and talk with the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo and Sultan of Yogyakarta Hamengkubawono X.

Prior to visiting Indonesia, the Federal President is visiting Singapore from 13 to 15 June.
